"Ask the Pastor"

> What is "holy laughter"?

Solomon,

There are Scriptures that speak of the Lord filling our mouths with
laughter. Job 8:21 says, "He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and
your lips with shouting."

Another is Psalm 126:2, where it says, "Then our mouth was filled with
laughter and our tongue with joyful shouting; then they said among the
nations, 'The Lord has done great things for them.'"

These Scriptures could be termed holy laughter. This laughter is the
result of being delivered from captivity, or with forgiveness of sin, or
with a joy that comes when the Lord had done something personal and
wonderful in our life.

However, if your question about holy laughter has to do with a
charismatic movement that is being dubbed 'the laughing movement,' I
don't believe this movement fits the category that I just mentioned. It
would come under the title of crowd manipulation. I find nothing holy in
this movement whatsoever.
