Victoria,

You are correct in that in Islam are "many things that contradict the Bible."
But the key is to realize that Jesus did not come to give us a religion. No
religion on this planet that can lay claim to being 'the' true religion. Jesus
came to give us Himself. He alone is the truth. Unless we receive Him alone as
Lord and Savior, there is no salvation. This is something that Islam denies. It
seeks to place Jesus as one prophet among others, but not as the Son of God, nor
do they accept that the cross has to do with our salvation.

As to your second question, Catholics consider themselves to be Christian. When
it comes to Christianity in a religious sense, we have to say that there are
many Christianities. Catholicism happens to be one of them. But as I said above,
there is no true religion. There is only Jesus and Him alone. He is our
salvation.
