Hey Brother Buddy,

I've been muttering over Romans 8:11, and was wondering if you had any
thoughts as to the life given to our mortal bodies through His Spirit who

The context of Romans 11 is our glorification with Christ. The following verses lead to a finale in verse 30, where Paul says, "And these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He call, He also justified; and these who He justified, He also glorified."

Earlier in this chapter, Paul draws attention to what he calls "the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus." This law is two-focused. First, it speaks of our salvation (security) in Christ. This means that the merits of Christ are applied to each believer. For this reason, there can never be a sentence of condemnation against any believer. He later says that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

A second application of the law of the Spirit of life could be said that the Holy Spirit helps us to walk in a covenant relationship with Jesus. That is, the Holy Spirit ministers covenant benefits into our lives. This is part of our 'aliveness' in Christ. It is in this sense that healings, and evey physical strength, can be provided for us in our walk with the Lord.

But there is a danger zone here. Nowhere does Paul teach that the principle of death is eradicated from a believer's body, in that a believer can reach a state of spirituality where physical death is an impossibility. Paul taught just the opposite. In one place he said, "But though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day." (2Co4:16)
