Friend,
Your question:
> Dear Pastor:
> What exactly did Jesus mean when He said,
"Foxes have holes, and the
> birds of the air, their nest, but the Son of man has no place to lie
> His head"
We need to put this statement into its context. It says, "A scribe
came and said to Him, 'Teacher, I will follow You wherever You
go.'" The Lord's response had to do with discipleship. To follow
Jesus meant forsaking all. Was this scribe ready to do that?
As for the Son of man having no place to lay His head, think about
it. Jesus came into our world, not to build a physical kingdom for
Himself. From the cross, He would return to the heavens. During
His sojourn in the earth, Jesus owned nothing. He was actually
buried in a borrowed grave. Yet even the grave would not keep His
body.
Now apply that to yourself. The attitude we are to have as true
believers, is that we are sojourners in this life. Jesus said that we do
not belong to the world, even as He did not belong to the world.
Wonderful to think about, isn't it.
Hope this helps.
