> Question:

> What are the fundamental doctrines of the church?

John,

There are a great many traditions among Christians. However,
there are certain basic doctrines that a person must accept in order
to be considered a Christian.

The doctrines that are fundamental to the Christian faith center
largely on the person of Jesus Christ. We believe He was born of a
Virgin, that He died for the sins of the world, that He was raised
from the dead on the third day, that He ascended into heaven, is
now seated at the right hand of the majesty on high, and will return
in the end to judge the world in righteousness. While there are
various views on the return of Jesus, these fundamentals belong to
the Christian faith.

To become a Christian, a person needs to accept Jesus as his or
her Messiah, that is, as their personal Savior and Redeemer. In
receiving Jesus Christ the person must be willing to confess Him
publicly. Christians were once known as 'the people of the great
confession.'

Jesus said, "Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I
will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But
whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My
Father who is in heaven." (Matt10:32,33)

While there are many other doctrines that belong to the Christian
faith, the ones I mention here are paramount to Christianity.

If I can help you further, feel free to ask.

Blessings,

Bro. Buddy
