> What is the christian concept of heaven?
Chelsea,
The Christian concept of heaven comes from the Bible itself. We believe that
heaven is an actual place and not just a 'condition.' The Bible teaches that
heaven is where the throne of God is. The Bible also teaches that heaven has a
great capital city called the New Jerusalem.
The patriarchs of old believed in heaven. The Bible says, "By faith Abraham,
when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for
an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he
lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in
tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise; for he was looking
for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God."
(Heb11:8-10)
In short the Bible refers to heaven as 'a heavenly country.'
Blessings,
