Subject: Bible Study HF110 - Struggles in Israel (Part 3)
Hebraics,
Our first study of this series dealt with issues in Israel
between the secular Jew and the religious Jew. (Jesus has His
part in all this.) In the second study we saw how religion
often interferes with a true relationship with Jesus Christ.
This can happen even in Christianity.
In this final study I will be make comparisons to both
Talmudic Judaism and Islam, to show how very different they
are from true Biblical Christianity. You will see how close
and yet how far Islam is from true faith in Jesus. You will
also see how Talmudic Judaism has served to deceive the Jewish
people concerning the gospel of Jesus. (Yet Jews by the 1000s
are turning to Jesus in spite of the writings of the rabbis.)
A major part of this 3rd study is excerpts from the
writings of Talmudic Judaism, and from the writings of Islam.
However, there is a point I wish to make. This study is not
intended to be anti- Muslim or anti-Jew. Its chief design is
to allow you to see how these two monothiestic religions
disturb and distort the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
This is Bible Study HF110 - Struggles in Israel (Part 3)
Let's begin with the fall of Adam. Here is the
conversation:
[Lord] "Where are you?"
[Adam] "I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I
was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself."
[Lord] "Who told you that you were naked? Have you
eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?"
[Adam] "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she
gave me from the tree, and I ate."
Certain things stand out in the fuller conversation between
the Lord, Adam and Eve, and Satan. One is where Adam places
the blame of the fall entirely on Eve. And Eve has suffered
ever since, especially when it comes to religion.
Another thing that stands out is that here is where we find
the stage being set for the redemption of the human family. It
will take place through God's Deliverer. The Deliverer will be
virgin born.
Perhaps it should go without saying that men and women are
very different in many respects. It is in our differences that
we can say women are not equal to men. It is also in this
sense that we can say men are not equal to women. The issue of
equality is not a thing of worth. It has to do with our
God-given roles.
What is to follow will consist largely of excerpts from the
primary writings of Biblical Christianity, Talmudic Judaism,
and the religion of Islam. (The excerpts are not in any
particular order as to subject.) You can see for yourself how
religion has managed to mar the truths of God.
(1) Biblical Christianity (Old and New Testament) ---
"For all of you who were baptized into Christ have
clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor
Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither
male nor female; for you are all one n Christ Jesus."
(Gal3:27,28)
"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and
that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result
of works, so that no one may boats. For we are His
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them."
(Eph2:8-10)
"Thomas answered and said to Him, 'My Lord and my
God.'" (John
20:28)
"'I am the Alpha and the Omega,' says the Lord God,
'who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.'" (Rev1:8)
"You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in
an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a
woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of
life, so that your prayers will not be hindered." (1
Peter 3:7)
"Greetings favored one! The Lord is the with
you." ... "The angel answered and said to her, 'The
Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High
will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall
be called the Son of God." (Luke
1:35)
"He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains
favor from the Lord." (Pro18:22)
"An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but
she who shames him is like rottenness in his bones." (Pro12:4)
Note: Since most of you are well familiar with the
Scriptures I will leave off Biblical quotations for now and
give room for quotations from the Talmud and the Koran/hadith.
...............
(2) Talmudic Judaism (Talmud & related writings.) ---
Note: Jesus is often referred to in the Talmud’s under
names such as Balaam, Pandira, Jeshu, Gehazi, Ben Stada, etc.,
as an attempt to disfavor Him. It was also an attempt to
remove any true understanding of Him from the people. These
were sort of code words that the rabbis understood and used.
The following excerpts are of no particular order:
"A male should not walk between two females or two
dogs or two pigs. In the same manner the males should not
allow a woman, dog or pig to walk between them." [Rule 8
in Chapter 3 of the Kitzur Shulhan Aruch for Jews with little
talmudic education.]
"In the beginning a prophet, in the end a deceiver
[Jesus]. Rab Papa said, 'This is that which they say, she
[Mary] played the harlot with carpenters.'" (b. Sanh.
106)
"R. Abahu said: If a man say to thee, 'I am God,' he
is a liar; if he says, 'I am the son of man,' in the end
people will laugh at him; if he says, 'I will go up to
heaven,' he saith, but shall not perform it." (Taanith
65)
"Onqelos bar Qaloniqos, sister's son of Titus, desired
to become a proselyte. .... He called up Jesus by necromancy.
He said to him, 'Who is honoured in this world?' He [Jesus]
replied, 'Israel.' 'What about joining them?' He [Jesus]
replied, 'Seek their good, seek not their harm. Every one who
injures them, it is as if he injured the apple of his eye.' He
said, 'What is the punishment of this man?' He [Jesus]
replied, 'By boiling filth.' For a teacher has said, 'Every
one who mocks at the words of the wise [speaking of the
rabbis] is punished by boiling filth.' Come and see the
difference between the sinners of Israel and the prophets of
the peoples of the world who serve a false religion
[Christians].'" [b. Gitt. 56,57 - Modern Talmud’s do
not mention Jesus by same.]
"On the eve of Pesah they hung Jeshu the Nazarene. And
the crier went forth before him forty days saying, 'Jeshu the
Nazarene goeth forth to be stoned, because he hath practiced
magic and deceived and led astray Israel. Any one who knoweth
aught inn his favour, let him come and declare concerning
him.' And they found naught in his favour ..... He was a
deceiver, and the Merciful hath said, Thou shall not spare,
neither shall thou conceal him. But it was
different with Jeshu the Nazarene, for he was near to the
kingdom." (b. Sanh. 43 - This passage was removed from
later editions of the Talmud.)
Note: Since the Talmud is a vast library of writings by the
rabbis; I'll simply share smatterings of things that are found
there:
Erubin 21b. Whosoever disobeys the rabbis deserves death
and will be punished by being boiled in hot excrement in hell.
Baba Mezia 114a-114b. Only Jews are human ("Only ye
are designated men" Gentile women are designation as
'she-asses.')
Jews are Divine, Sanhedrin 58b. If a heathen (Gentile) hits
a Jew, the Gentile must be killed. Hitting a Jew is the same
as hitting God.
Jews Have Superior Legal Status, Baba Kamma 37b. "If
an ox of an Israelite gores an ox of a Canaanite there is no
liability; but if an ox of a Canaanite gores an ox of an
Israelite...the payment is to be in full."
Abodah Zarah 36b. Gentile girls are in a state of niddah
(filth) from birth.
Sanhedrin 106 refers to the early age of the death of
Jesus: "Hast thou heard how old Balaam (Jesus) was?--He
replied: It is not actually stated but since it is written,
Bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days it
follows that he was thirty-three or thirty-four years
old."
Rosh Hashanah 17a. Christians ("minim") and
others who reject the Talmud will go to hell and be punished
there for all generations.
Yebamoth 63a. States that Adam had sexual intercourse with
all the animals in the Garden of Eden.
Sanhedrin 55b and Sanhedrin 54b. A Jew may marry a three
year old girl (specifically, three years "and a day"
old). A Jew may have sex with a child as long as the child is
less than nine years old.
Hagigah 27a. States that no rabbi can ever go to hell.
Baba Mezia 59b. A rabbi debates God and defeats Him. God
admits the rabbi won the debate.
.......................
(3) Islam (Koran/Hadith) ---
Koran/Hadith: "The Prophet said, 'Isn't the witness of
a woman equal to half of that of a man?' The woman said,
'Yes.' He said, 'This is because of the deficiency of a
woman's mind.'" (Hadith 3.48.826)
"The Prophet said, 'If a man invites his wife to sleep
with him and she refuses to come to him, then the angels send
their curses on her till morning.'" (hadith 7.62.121)
Note: With regard to sexual issues the woman is to give
herself fully to the whim of the man, including the time of
giving birth.
"The Prophet said: 'I was shown the Hell-fire and that
the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful.'
It was asked, 'Do they disbelieve (ungrateful to) in Allah?'
He replied, 'They are ungrateful to their husbands and are
ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done
to them.'" (hadith 1.2.28)
"They [Jews] claim, 'We killed the Messiah Jesus, son
of Mary, the Apostle of God.' But they killed him not, nor did
they crucify him. They were under the illusion that they had.
Those who differ about this matter are full of doubts. They
have no real knowledge but follow only conjecture. Assuredly,
they did not kill him. On the contrary, God raised him to
himself, and God is all-powerful, all- wise. And there are
none of the People of the Book who will not believe in him
before his death. On the Day of Resurrection he [Jesus] will
be a witness against them." (Sura 4:157-159)
Note: Islam teaches that Jesus was not crucified but that
God made someone to look like Jesus. It was this 'look alike'
that was crucified.
"Christ, the son of Mary as no more than an Apostle;
many were the apostles that passed away before him." (Sura
5:75)
"They say, 'The Most Gracious has taken a son!' Indeed
they [Christians] have put forth a thing most monstrous! At it
the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and
the mountains to fall down in utter ruin, that they should
invoke a son for The Most Gracious that He should take a
son." (19:88-92)
"People of the Book [Christians], do not go to
unwarranted lengths in your religion and get involved in false
utterances relating to God. Truly, Jesus, Mary's son, was the
messenger of God and His Word - the word which He imparted to
Mary - and a spirit from Him. Believe, then, in God and His
apostles and do not talk of three (gods). You are well advised
to abandon such ideas. Truly God is one God. Glory be to Him,
He is above having a son, to Him belong all things in the
heavens and the earth, and He is the one and only
guardian." (4:171)
"Say: 'If the All-Merciful [God] had a son, I
[Mohammed] would be the first to worship [him].' Glory be to
the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the Throne,
beyond all the attributes they ascribe." (43:81-82)
"Do not argue with the People of the Book [Christians
and Jews] but in the best possible way, except in the case of
those among them who have been unjust. Say: 'We believe in
what has been sent down to use and sent down to you. Our God
and your God is One, and we are surrendered to Him [lit. 'we
are muslims to Him'] (29:46)
"Will you [O Muslims] entertain the hope that they
[the Jews] will believe you? Don't you know that a party of
them heard the Word of God, and distorted it knowingly after
they understood it?" (2:75 - Incudes reference to the
Talmud)
"Mu'adh saw Christians bowing before their archbishops
and bishops. He said to himself that God's Apostle [Mohammed]
is worthier of being exalted in such a way. When he came back
[to Arabia], he said, 'O Apostle of God, I have seen that
Christians bow before their archbishops and bishops. I have
said to myself that you are worthier of being exalted.' He
said, 'If I had to command anyone to bow I would order the
woman to bow to her husband. The woman does not fulfill her
duties towards God until she has entirely fulfilled her duties
towards her husband so that if he asked her to give herself to
him even when she is in labour she would consent.'" (musnad
al-kufiyyin no. 151)
"There is none born among the offspring of Adam but
Satan touches it. A child, therefore, cries loudly at the time
of birth because of the touch of Satan, except Mary and her
child." (Bukhara, anbiya 44:IV)
Note: Jesus has a very special status in Islam. He is
honored as one of the greatest prophets. Mohammed spoke of his
own relationship to Jesus; "I am the nearest of all
people to the son of Mary, and all the prophets are paternal
brothers, and there has been no prophet between me and
him." Jesus is called 'the seal of the saints.' Mohammed
is called 'the Seal of the Prophets.'
"God said, 'Jesus, son of Mary, did you ever say to
the people, 'Adopt me and my mother as two gods in disregard
to God Himself?' To which he replied, 'Glory be to you. It is
not in me to say what I have no warrant for. If I had ever
said such a thing You would have known it. For You know my
innermost being and I do not know Yours....'" 5:116-117)
This concludes the excerpts.
The study is open for discussion.
