Hi Shirley,

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I'm not clear on the statement you made that "Everyone is a Christian, yet everyone has a different religion." Are you referring to the different denominations? I'm sure you know that Muslims do not consider themselves to be Christian, nor do Buddhists.

Since I assume you are speaking of different Christian denominations, a good way to share with your daughter, would be to tell her what makes a Christian, a Christian. A Christian is anyone who truly accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, and has been baptized. This is not an issue of religion or of denomination. It is a decision made in the heart, that is confirmed in our personal testimony.

As for different Christian groups, you may want to share with her the analogy Jesus gave of the Vine and branches. (Look at John 15.) There is a sense in which Christian denominations can be compared to branches. Our one connecting point will always be Jesus.

Another example would be to share with her how there were 12 tribes of Israel, but they all served the One true God.

What your daughter needs to understand is that the Lord does not see us according to what group we belong to. He sees us as to our relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you could share more about your Christian roots and the questions your daughter is asking, I'll do my best to provide additional help.

Blessings,

Buddy
