Ask The Pastor

Mon, 17 Jan 2005

Jenny,

I won't try to answer all that you asked. Those things need to be taken to the Lord. However, I will make some observations that may help you.

> . . . If I look at these issues the way many Christians do it only

> makes me angry, bitter, makes me wonder why God would punish me by

> making me a woman and punish all the other women out there with the

> burdens that we have and it makes me angry towards God.

Sister, you are being misguided. When God made Eve, He made a picture of glory. She was His crowning work. Part of the problem with much teaching today is in a failure to understand the beauty, the nature, the giftings, and the special place that women have in God's created order. Once these things are understood, never again will the woman be looked upon as being inferior in any way to the man.

In fact the ancient Hebrew people were taught that the woman had a deeper spiritual nature than the man. This may not be true in every case, but it does speak volumes. A woman has such a special role before God and in the human family, that the Bible actually compares her to the Holy Spirit. And man is commanded to love his wife in the same way that Christ loves the church.

> I have been struggling with this for probably 2 years and my faith

> it suffering because of it. I feel rejected by God when I hear

> teachings that put men it a position to have the last word over

> their wives or permit men to teach anyone but give the leftover or

> smaller jobs to women. How ! can I restore my faith and get out of

> this trap of bitterness and pessimism about being a Christian woman?

You can restore your faith by asking the Lord to open your own understanding to your own placement in His kingdom. You need a good spiritual education in this area. Once the Lord begins to let you see just how very valuable you really are, never again will you become bitter about being a Christian woman.

I wish you all the best.

Always in Christ,

Buddy
