Question:
> 1) When becoming a Christian why do I have to give up listening to rap
> and R&B?
When a person becomes a true Biblical Christian, it means their hearts are changed. The Bible speaks of this as being 'born again.' In this new heart will be found a love for things that are holy, for truth, and for what pleases the Lord.
As for listening to rap and R&B, I can only suggest that if this music carries the message of the world, then why would you want to listen to it? Would you not want your heart to be filled with music that speaks of the Lord? Our life is always going to be made up of what fills our heart.
However, there is such a thing as Christian rap. Is this what you are referring to?
> 2) What if I already have a live in boyfriend that I
am sexly active
> with?
Then you need to repent from that life style and turn fully to the Lord.
To become a Christian, one of the things required is called 'repentance.' This means to change your mind about sin and about the way you have been living that would be considered sinful. Living with your boyfriend and being sexually active with him is a sinful life style. This is something you must turn from. No one can be saved who doesn't turn from sin.
> 3) How do I just dump my unsaved friends?
Why would you want to dump them? Jesus was called 'the friend of sinners.' There may be more to this. Chances are your unsaved friends are going to want to dump you if you are truly a Christian. People in sin, do sinful things. People who are Christian, do Christian things. These two areas do not mix. Yet, if you can take advantage of your friendship to minister Jesus to your friends, this would be good.
> 4) Why do I have to change the way I dress?
Depends on how you dress.
> Can I please have some biblical answers to these
questions.
There are lots of Scriptures that you can draw from. The one that seems to best fit your situation is,
"Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." (1John2:15)
Feel free to write me further.
