Hi Shirina,
Thanks for writing. Both the things that you reference are correct. Speaking in other languages was never taugth by the apostles as a thing of salvation. And, yes, when you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, it is His spirit that comes into your heart. The Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Jesus are dealt with as the same thing in the new covenant.

Nowhere in the Bible does it ever say that the evidence of the Holy Ghost is tongues. You are probably heard this so much that you've accepted it as a true statement. It is totally a false statement. You may wish to search this our for yourself.

Then you have not read your Bible careful enough. The Bible plainly teaches that when we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord, that is the moment that the Holy Spirit seals us and enters into our heart. Read Ephesians 1:13,15. There are many other Scriptures I could point out, but just think about what Paul is saying here.

I don't disagree with you, Shirina. God's people need to not only read the Scriptures, and pray, but they also need to be under proper teaching.
